Regional Relays – Saturday 9 November 2013

There will be no competition at Windsor Park on Saturday 9 November as the Regional Relay competition will be held on that day at Bowden Park, Geebung.   This competition is open to all of our registered athletes and we compete against other clubs in our region such as Aspley, The Gap, Brackenridge, Redcliffe, Strathpine and Arana.

The timetable for the competition can be found here as is the nomination form found here.   Nominations need to be submitted to our canteen by Saturday 26 October.  Cost is $2.50 per event.  There are both running and field events available.   An athlete should only nominate for a running relay event if the athlete can definitely attend.  The running relay events are a team event and please do not nominate if you are not sure on attendance.   The maximum number of events per athlete is 5 – 2 running relays and 3 field events.  Most athletes nominate in all 5.  We cannot guarantee that an athlete will be placed in 2 running relays – this will depend on numbers per age group but most athletes are able to be placed in 2 running relays.   The top 3 teams in each event at Regional Relays progress to the State Champs in mid December.  The field events are made up of teams of 2 – the first 2 from each club in each event form a team.

There is no need to put together a team – just nominate.  Teams will be put together based on numbers nominated in each age group and performances at Windsor Park.

All athletes are encouraged to nominate.  Relay training will commence next week at our Tuesday and Thursday night training.   Athletes who are in their first year at the club are encouraged to nominate.    Nominations will be taken at the canteen from Thursday night at training and will continue up to and including Saturday 26 October.  There can be no late nominations after 26 October.

Bring a Friend Day – Saturday 2 November

We are holding a Bring a Friend Day on Saturday 2 Nov.  This allows athletes to bring friends with them who can participate in the events on the day.  Each athlete who brings a fried goes into a draw for prizes. Click here to download the flyer

Travel Offer

One of our parents has kindly made an offer to our families for discounted flights and a flyer can be found here.  Any flight purchased will lead to donation to the club.

Saturday Training – High Jump and Long Jump 1pm

Aspley Pentathlon – Sunday 13 October 2013

The order of events for the Aspley Pentathlon can be found here.  Please be at Bowden Park, Geebung by 8:30am for warm-up.   We will have some of our shade structures set up but bring fold out chairs.  Parents need to be in attendance during the day.  We have 65 athletes competing and good luck to all of them particularly those who are new to Little Athletics.

Entries can still be taken up to 8am on the day although there is now an increased fee of $15.   Full club uniform, shorts and shirt, with age patch, registration number and IGA and Medibank patches must be worn.  Spike use is limited to those u11 and up and only in some events.  Make sure you have waffles or regular running shoes as well as spikes if you are going to wear spikes in some events as spikes can only be put on at the event. A PDF can be found here on the permitted use of spikes is attached.  Another issue that comes up with uniforms is Skins – these must be worn inside out so the manufacturer’s name is not seen.

Tuesday and Thursday night Training

We had a very good turnout for training this past Tuesday and we will have our usual coaches in attendance tonight.

Our canteen is open for training as well as on Saturdays – all profits go to the club.
