Saturday Training – High Jump and Long Jump 1pm
We will again be holding High Jump (flop and scissors) and Long Jump training for all age groups from 1pm this Saturday 26 October. This will be before the start of the program which will commence at 2pm so this will allow about an hour for high jump and long jump training. There has been good attendance for this additional training so we will be continuing with it each Saturday from 1pm.
Training Tonight – Thursday
There is a threat of thunderstorms this afternoon. If this occurs training will be cancelled. Please check website or text 0418 621 654 if in doubt. Training is continuing each Tues and Thurs night from 6pm to 7:15pm.
Regional Relays – Saturday 9 November 2013
There will be no competition at Windsor Park on Saturday 9 November as the Regional Relay competition will be held on that day at Bowden Park, Geebung. This competition is open to all of our registered athletes and we compete against other clubs in our region such as Aspley, The Gap, Brackenridge, Redcliffe, Strathpine and Arana.
The timetable for the competition can be found here as is the nomination form found here. Nominations need to be submitted to our canteen by Saturday 26 October. Cost is $2.50 per event. There are both running and field events available. An athlete should only nominate for a running relay event if the athlete can definitely attend. The running relay events are a team event and please do not nominate if you are not sure on attendance. The maximum number of events per athlete is 5 – 2 running relays and 3 field events. Most athletes nominate in all 5. We cannot guarantee that an athlete will be placed in 2 running relays – this will depend on numbers per age group but most athletes are able to be placed in 2 running relays. The top 3 teams in each event at Regional Relays progress to the State Champs in mid December. The field events are made up of teams of 2 – the first 2 from each club in each event form a team.
There is no need to put together a team – just nominate. Teams will be put together based on numbers nominated in each age group and performances at Windsor Park.
All athletes are encouraged to nominate. Relay training will commence next week at our Tuesday and Thursday night training. Athletes who are in their first year at the club are encouraged to nominate. Nominations will be taken at the canteen from Thursday night at training and will continue up to and including Saturday 26 October. There can be no late nominations after 26 October.
